Melasma is a condition in which the skin darkens, unevenly, on sun exposed areas. It most commonly occurs on the cheeks, forehead and upper lip. Very similar to sun spots (solar lentigines), which are are harmless spots that appear on sun-exposed areas of the skin, they occur after repeated or chronic sun exposure.
